Over the last couple of decades, new technologies have quickly transformed the consumer landscape, changing tried and true ways of communicating with consumers and making everyone reinvent the wheel. The rise of the web, the invention of Google, the creation of social media, the rise of the smartphone and the adoption of e-commerce all required sellers, marketers and content creators to change their entire business models to continue to grab the attention of the most relevant consumers. The next challenge is the metaverse, a rising technology that has the opportunity to once again rewrite the rules of consumer engagement.

While most companies are still trying to understand what it is and why anyone would spend their hard-earned money on it, other companies have started to take the metaverse seriously. They’ve seen the writing on the wall; they’ve been down this road before and missed the warning signs of the last digital transition, and they won’t make the same mistake again.
